DITCHING THE PAID OPTION: A New Chapter In Becoming Whole
This is not about stepping away from support, it’s about stepping into something more expansive, more intentional, and more aligned with my definition of healing.
After a lot of reflection, I have made the decision to step away from the paid subscription model that FOR MY SAKE! was based on and step into a more aligned Self - that of Kid Katrin, my Sun Child, my untouched-by-trauma Self.
It was not an easy choice and yet it kind of was? (To be completely fair, the hard part was technology and not loosing neither all of you, nor my publications - they shall be reshared when their time comes, she said dramatically!)
Mostly, it felt like the most honest and aligned path moving forward.
When I moved my writing to Substack, I envisioned this space as a sanctuary - a place for exploration, healing and expression: for myself to give, and for you to get.
Over time, though, I found that blending self-expression with monetization created a quiet but growing tension.
Every time I saw reminders to insert buttons or prompts for payment, I noticed a subtle but undeniable shift. It became harder to fully pour myself into the writing without thinking about the logistics.
The very tools that were meant to support this space began to feel like barriers to the creative flow.
That’s when I started to re-examine my purpose here—and I began to see this decision through the lens of The Stages of Change Model.
If you don’t feel like considering any stages of change on a Tuesday, swipe until you see BECOMING WHOLE - there is something awaiting for you!
and read the following publication that truly inspired me today:
Your ideas can't change the world if you keep them in your drafts.
PRE-CONTEMPLATION: Prioritizing the Message, Not the Payment
In the early days, I did not fully see the tension brewing between the message and the monetization model.
I thought I could balance both— typing meaningful, moving content on my laptop while supporting the whole financial side that Substack and Stripe offer.
But over time, I noticed how the financial structures, meaning all the reminders to add button X or button Y, were subtly shifting my focus.
I realized that the work I want to do here is NOT about transactions.
It’s about soul work.
Healing begins with words that resonate—not buttons or payment models.
CONTEMPLATION: Free Expression Over Transaction
Creativity flows freely when it’s unbound, at least mine does.
I believe writing is a conversation with the self, a way to make sense of the unsaid, and when it becomes transactional, it risks losing its power.
Writing is how I process, how I heal, and how I share that healing with you - the readers.
To offer you the truest parts of me, I need this space to feel free—unbothered to perform in a certain way, and focused on a place where my words can flow as they need to.
PREPARATION: Healing is not something we buy, but something we step into.
Growth and self-discovery are universal human rights, no?
By removing paid subscriptions, I hope to remove one more barrier to accessing the kind of tools and insights that might spark something within you.
ACTION: We often lose sight of what matters most when we get too caught up in “what’s next” or “what’s required.”
But when we pause, when we clear space, we can realign with our purpose.
My purpose is not to monetize healing, it is to live it, to share it, to make it available to anyone who needs it.
I want to pour my energy into what heals: the ideas and practices that have changed my life and, hopefully, yours.
There comes a time when you have to look at the life you are creating and ask:
Is this serving the truest version of myself?
For me, the answer became clear.
The paid subscription model has served its purpose, but it no longer aligns with the vision I hold for this space—or for myself.
This is not about stepping away from support, it’s about stepping into something more expansive, more intentional, and more aligned with my definition of healing.
BECOMING WHOLE: THE BOLD STEP FORWARD
This space has always been about transformation, and transformation requires us to step boldly into the unknown.
For me, this means channeling my energy into Becoming Whole,
a course grounded in the ALL-PARTS-WELCOME approach - the Internal Family Systems, and offering SO. FREAKING. MUCH. (My 20-year-old self is screaming from happiness!)
But just to quickly introduce you the IFS approach: what I craved and the approach offered was the teaching that we are not fragmented, we are layered.
Each part of us carries its own story, pain, and wisdom.
The path to healing is NOT about fixing ourselves,
it’s learning to love, integrate, and honour each of these parts.
BECOMING WHOLE is an offering to help you do just that:
to step into a fuller, deeper, and more compassionate relationship with yourself.
I want to at least hint you that the first thought that came to mind when I wanted to map out the process was:
What did you want to hear when you began healing?
What would 20-year-old Kid Katrin want to hear?
What would soothe Kid Katrin’s pain and bring her peace?
What would soothe Adult Katrin’s pain and bring her clarity?
And then dedicating my rawest, truest energy to it, during the ups and the downs of the past one year, already delivered more than I thought, here is just a half, though (the whole package is on the way!):
To Those Who Supported This Space
If you have been a paid subscriber, I see you. I am so grateful for your belief in me and this work.
As a thank-you, I will be contacting you shortly about a major (and deserved!) discount and an equally deserved bonus for all the support you have shown me this year.
For all of you who supported my work in reading it, sharing it, loving it, living it:
the gifts of BECOMING WHOLE and the gift to you will come next week!
THANK YOU, TRULY.
There is no endpoint to healing. There is no finish line to becoming whole.
You are not something to be fixed.
You are something to be loved, understood, and integrated.
With gratitude,
Kid Katrin
